Website maintenance that keeps the lights on (and the leads coming)

Our website maintenance tests every update on a staging copy before it touches your live site. Every change lands in a changelog you can read. Brand new site or an old faithful, a report arrives each month saying what we did and why.

What is included

Nothing changes on your site without a paper trail.

Four rules every maintenance plan runs on, whatever platform sits underneath.

  1. Every update is tried on a copy of your site first. If it breaks something there, your customers never see it.

    How a build runs
  2. The changelog records what changed, when and why, so a fault can be traced to its cause in minutes, not afternoons.

    See the work
  3. Swapping a photo or updating a price should not need a quote. Small edits come out of the plan. New pages and features are quoted first.

    The proof we show
  4. Care plans run month to month. Give 30 days' notice to leave, and the words, photos and branding you supplied stay yours.

How it runs

From first call to launch, minus the headaches.

You see the page plan before design starts, and the design before we build. So there are no nasty surprises at the end.

Week 1

Audit

We take stock of the site as it stands: the platform, the plugins, the accounts and what already misbehaves. Then we promise to look after it.

What we deliver

  • Platform and plugin inventory
  • Account and access review
  • Known issues list
  • Fixed monthly scope
A business owner laughing during a video strategy call on his laptop, in a light-filled room with a window behind him

Weeks 1 to 2

Staging

A private copy of your site is set up to mirror the live one, so every update has somewhere safe to be tried first.

What we deliver

  • Staging copy of the live site
  • Deploy and rollback routine
  • Changelog started
  • Baseline speed and error check
A crowd of people crossing a busy city street, shot from above with their movement blurred

Every month

Updates

Core, theme and plugin updates are applied on staging first. The pages that earn are checked one by one, and only then does anything go live.

What we deliver

  • Updates tested on staging
  • Visual check of key templates
  • Form and checkout test
  • A changelog line per change
Three colleagues around a table of laptops, one standing and gesturing at a screen while the other two look on

As requested

Small changes

Small edits to text, images, prices and team pages are made when you ask and logged like any other change. Bigger jobs get a quote first.

What we deliver

  • Content edits on request
  • Bigger jobs quoted first
  • Images resized, alt text written
  • Turnaround agreed per request
Blue and lime patch cables plugged into a rack panel and sweeping away in order

Every month

Report

A short report says what was updated, what was changed at your request, and what we think needs attention next.

What we deliver

  • Monthly report
  • Changelog summary
  • Issues to watch
  • Recommendations, priced if needed

The long read

What website maintenance is really for.

Most care plans sell peace of mind and send an invoice. What your site needs is to keep working, with a record that proves it does.

An update is a small redesign nobody reviewed

A plugin update changes code on your live site. Usually that is harmless.

Sometimes it moves a button, breaks a form or changes how a page loads, and the first sign is a quiet week of enquiries. Nothing crashed. Nobody looked at the page afterwards.

Staging is the answer. The update runs on a copy, someone checks the pages that earn, and only then does it go live.

What a site owes after months without care
Waiting on an update Up to date

Illustrative: the shape an unmaintained site tends to take, not a measurement of yours. We count your own backlog in the audit.

The changelog is the thing you are paying for

When something on a site goes wrong, the first question is always the same. What changed?

Without a record, answering it takes hours of guessing. With one, it is a matter of looking it up.

So every change we make, large or small, lands in a changelog with the date, the reason and the way back.

Small changes should not wait for a quote

A new price. A staff member who has left. A notice about holiday hours.

When each one needs a quote and a week, people stop asking, and the site drifts out of date one sentence at a time.

So small edits are part of the plan. You send the change, we make it on staging, check it, and it goes live with a line in the changelog.

What maintenance does not cover

Maintenance keeps the site you have working. It does not redesign it, rewrite it, or add features it was never built for.

When a request is really a project, we will say so and quote it separately. New pages, features and larger content changes are quoted as you need them. You only pay for work you ask for.

Security hardening and hosting are their own services, and they sit beside this one rather than inside it.

Send us the login. We will tell you what needs doing first.

Not answered here? Ask us directly

What happens if an update breaks something?

It breaks on staging, where we catch it, so it never reaches your live site. If a fault does get through, the changelog shows exactly what changed and we roll it back while we fix the cause.

Which platforms do you maintain?

WordPress, Shopify and the custom sites we build ourselves, including brand new ones we have just launched. If yours runs on something else, we look at it first. Then we tell you straight whether we are the right people for it.

What does a maintenance plan cost?

A fixed monthly price, quoted after we audit the site. How many plugins it runs and how often your team needs changes matter more than its page count. There are no lock-in contracts, and 30 days' notice ends the plan.

What counts as a small change?

Anything that fits the site as it is built: text, images, prices, opening hours or a new team member. New pages, features and larger content changes are quoted as you need them. You only pay for work you ask for.

Do we have to use your hosting?

No. Maintenance works on the hosting you already have. If you would rather we ran the hosting too, that is our managed hosting service, and both fit together without overlap.

Can updates hurt our rankings?

They can if they slow the site or break a page nobody checks. That is why each update is tested on staging, and why the monthly report notes any change in speed or crawl errors.

How is this different from your security service?

Maintenance keeps the site current and working. Security keeps people out and gets you back quickly if they get in, with hardened accounts, tested restores and an incident plan. Many clients run both.
