Ecommerce platform migration, minus the lost orders and rankings.
Changing platforms is where stores quietly lose customers, order history and years of Google rankings. Our ecommerce platform migration moves your store onto Shopify or WooCommerce with all of that intact. We map every field, redirect every URL and rehearse the switch first.
“The entire process was seamless, easy, and incredibly user-friendly. They were patient and flexible with all the changes and back-and-forth... Most importantly, they absolutely nailed the brief.”
We switch over in a quiet window and sync anything that changed. Then we watch the numbers against the baseline for the weeks after.

The long read
What a migration can quietly lose.
Moving products is the easy part. The losses in a platform migration are almost always in the things nobody thought to put on the list.
01
Rankings live at addresses
Every page that ranks does so at a particular URL. Change the platform and most of those addresses change with it.
Redirect only the homepage and the top products, and the rest of the catalogue quietly falls out of the index. That long tail is hundreds of pages that each bring in a little traffic.
So the redirect map is built from a full crawl of the old store, one row per URL, and tested before cutover.

Illustrative: the usual long-tail shape of store traffic, not a measurement of yours. Your crawl and baseline show your spread.
02
Customers are more than email addresses
A returning customer expects to log in and see their past orders, their saved address, maybe their loyalty points.
Their history is part of why they come back. Lose it, and a regular becomes a stranger on their next visit.
Not every platform can carry every piece across, and passwords usually can't move at all. We say which up front and plan how customers are invited back.

The cutover is a rehearsal first
The risky moment is the switch itself. Think of orders placed during the move, stock changing and a payment gateway that needs reconnecting.
We run the full cutover on a copy first, time it and fix what breaks. Then we do it live in the quietest window your store has.

When not to migrate
Sometimes the platform is not the problem. A slow theme, a messy catalogue or a poor product page will follow the store to its new home, and a migration is not a fix for that.
If a redesign on your current platform would solve it for less, we'll recommend that first.

“Up until working with Casey, we had only had poor to mediocre
experiences outsourcing work to agencies... instead of needing
babysitting like the other agencies we worked with, he was not only
completely dependable but also gave us sound
suggestions on how to get better results.”

Questions
Migration questions, before you pack the boxes.
What you need to know before we start a conversation.
We move stores onto Shopify or WooCommerce, the platforms we build on. The old store can be on almost any platform, as long as its data can be exported. We confirm that in the baseline week.
Will we lose our search rankings?
A fully redirected migration should hold them, though a short dip in the first weeks is normal. We monitor against the baseline, so a lasting drop is found and fixed fast. Nobody can honestly guarantee rankings, and we won't either.
Can customer passwords be migrated?
Usually not, because platforms store them in ways that cannot be moved securely. Customer accounts and order history can be, and we plan a clear invitation for customers to set a new password.
Do we have to stop trading during the move?
No. Your old store keeps selling until the cutover, which happens in a short, quiet window. A final sync brings across any orders placed while the new store was being prepared.
What does a migration cost?
You get a fixed quote with line items after a free 15-minute strategy call and a look at your data. How complex the variants, customers and integrations are matters more than the number of products.
How long does a migration take?
Most migrations take 4 to 12 weeks. A like-for-like move sits toward the short end, and a migrate and rebuild takes longer. You get a dated schedule before you commit.
What happens to our reviews and blog posts?
They come across with everything else. Reviews are mapped to their products, and blog posts keep their content and get redirects. Anything the new platform can't hold is flagged before we start.
