Quick answer: the Sydney web design agencies worth comparing in 2026 are Website Development Group, Process Creative, EB Pearls, WP Creative, Milk Digital, Thinkmill, Deepend, Raw.Studio, Made Agency and Jimmyweb. They are not interchangeable. Some only build on Shopify, some only on WordPress, some build software for banks, and some design a brand and a website together. The right one depends on what your site has to do.
- We’re on this list, and we’re first. We say so plainly below, and we say who would suit you better than us.
- Every fact about the other agencies comes from their own website, checked on 28 October 2026.
- Use the table for a fast shortlist, then read the entries for fit and watch-outs.
Sydney has more web agencies than almost anywhere in Australia, which makes choosing one harder, not easier. A search for “web design agency Sydney” brings up global studios, freelancers, offshore teams with a Sydney phone number and lists written by agencies ranking themselves. This guide is one of those lists. The difference we’ve tried to make is that it tells you who each agency suits and where each one is the wrong choice, including us.

How we chose these agencies
We looked for agencies with a real Sydney presence, a clear focus and published work you can judge for yourself. We left out agencies whose sites wouldn’t load, whose claims we couldn’t check, and directory listings with no studio behind them. Nobody paid to be included, and nobody was asked.
We also chose for range. A list of 10 near-identical studios doesn’t help you decide. These 10 cover ecommerce, WordPress, software, enterprise, startups, branding and small business, so most Sydney buyers will find two or three real candidates here.
The order is our judgment. We put ourselves first because it’s our blog. Read the entries, not the numbers.
Agency reviews
1. Website Development Group
Disclosure: this is us. We’ve included Website Development Group because we build websites for Sydney businesses every week, and we’ve set out how we work so you can judge the fit yourself.
We’re a Sydney-based, Australian-owned studio working with businesses across the country. Our sites are built for one job: turning visitors into enquiries, bookings and sales you can trace. Every site we build is wired into your CRM, booking system and ad accounts, so each enquiry arrives with its source attached. You can see which page, search or ad sent it. Our copywriters write the pages, so you’re never left with a template and a blank page to fill.
- Best for: service businesses, clinics, NDIS providers, trades and online stores that want a website judged by enquiries, not by how it looks in a pitch.
- Core work: custom website design, redesigns, copywriting, SEO, conversion tracking and ecommerce.
- Proof: 100+ clients, Google Partner certified, and published case studies including Speech Clinic, T3 Garage Doors, J&J Supports and OFO Outdoor Furniture.
- Honest watch-out: if you need a full brand identity designed before the website, a branding-led studio such as Made Agency (below) may be the better first step. And if you’re building a complex software product, Thinkmill or EB Pearls are set up for that.

2. Process Creative
Process Creative is a Redfern studio that works only on Shopify. It designs and builds Shopify and Shopify Plus stores, moves brands onto Shopify from other platforms, and runs ongoing conversion work after launch. Its site lists a 2022 Awwwards Site of the Day and 2023 Australian Web Awards wins for its Rollie build, and names Bondi Sands, Ninja Kitchen and Shark Clean among its clients.
- Best for: established and fast-growing consumer brands that want a design-led Shopify store with ongoing optimisation.
- Watch-out: it’s Shopify only and its portfolio leans to larger brands, so it suits merchants committed to Shopify more than first-time small stores.
3. EB Pearls
EB Pearls is a Surry Hills agency best known for apps and digital products. Its services cover mobile apps, AI development, product development, websites and ecommerce, and dedicated teams. It names Optus, NSW Health, The University of Sydney and News Corp as clients, and states it holds ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certification.
- Best for: founders, scale-ups and enterprises building a custom app or complex digital product, not just a marketing site.
- Watch-out: its own site says projects should have a budget of $50,000 or more, so it isn’t the right fit for a tight fixed budget.
4. WP Creative
WP Creative is an Ultimo-based WordPress specialist. It designs and builds custom WordPress and WooCommerce sites, handles integrations and runs care and support plans afterwards. Its client list includes the University of Oxford, UTS, Transport for NSW, Quantium and Nine.
- Best for: in-house marketing teams at growing or established organisations that run on WordPress and want one partner for the build and ongoing care.
- Watch-out: its site states custom projects start at $15,000 and ongoing plans at $2,500 a month. It also says most of its development team works from Kathmandu, Nepal, with headquarters in Sydney, which is worth knowing if you want to meet the people building your site.
5. Milk Digital
Milk Digital is a Leichhardt studio with a strong creative bent. It offers bespoke web design, UX, email design with Salesforce, HubSpot and Dynamics integration, interactive media, branding, video and print. It lists the Sydney Opera House Trust, City of Sydney, UNSW, Mirvac and the ABC among its clients.
- Best for: cultural institutions, universities, councils, charities and mid-size companies that want a design-led site with email marketing alongside.
- Watch-out: it’s creative first, so check the fit carefully if your project is mainly a technical build or a large online store.
6. Thinkmill
Thinkmill, in the Sydney CBD, is a product engineering firm rather than a website studio. It builds design systems, complex web applications, API platforms and, increasingly, AI systems. It names Atlassian, Westpac, Qantas, Breville and the Australian Government among the organisations it has built for.
- Best for: larger organisations and product teams that need senior engineers for design systems, web apps or AI-enabled software.
- Watch-out: it’s overkill for a marketing site or a small business website.
7. Deepend
Deepend is a Surry Hills digital agency that works on strategy, technology, websites, digital products and marketing. Its site lists a 2026 Good Design Award for web design and development for Adelaide Airport, and names the Royal Flying Doctor Service, ReachOut and Navitas as clients.
- Best for: health funds, super funds, not-for-profits and government or enterprise organisations that need strategy-led website and product work.
- Watch-out: it’s set up for enterprise and transformation programs, so expect budgets and timelines above most small business projects.
8. Raw.Studio
Raw.Studio is a Sydney design studio focused on startups and scale-ups. Its services are branding, UX and UI design, user research, conversion rate optimisation and web development. It names Westfield, Zip Co, TAL and hipages among its clients.
- Best for: fintech and SaaS companies that want brand, UX and conversion work on a product or marketing site.
- Watch-out: its work leans to product and startup brands, and its site doesn’t publish a street address, so ask where the team works if meeting in person matters to you.
9. Made Agency
Made Agency is a Double Bay studio that leads with branding. It designs identities, brand guidelines, websites, packaging and print, and offers copywriting, SEO and social. Its published projects include the Australian Telecommunications Alliance, Gunlake Group and the Ethnic Communities’ Council of NSW.
- Best for: businesses that want a new or refreshed brand and a website designed together by one studio.
- Watch-out: it’s branding-led rather than development-led, so complex integrations or a large online store may need a technical partner too.
10. Jimmyweb
Jimmyweb is a Sydney CBD studio that says it was established in 2003. It builds custom websites and online stores on WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify and Magento, offers managed WordPress hosting and maintenance, and does SEO and paid search. It names Tessuti Fabrics, Southern Ocean Lodge and Lord Howe Island Tourism Association among its clients.
- Best for: small and medium businesses, including tourism and retail, that want a long-established local studio for a site or store plus hosting.
- Watch-out: it doesn’t publish pricing, so compare its quote line by line against the others.
Which Sydney agency should you choose?
Start with what the website has to do, then pick the kind of agency built for that job.
- You sell products online and you’re on Shopify: Process Creative.
- You run WordPress and have an in-house marketing team: WP Creative.
- You’re building an app or software product: EB Pearls or Thinkmill.
- You’re a large NFP, fund or government body: Deepend or Milk Digital.
- You need a brand and a website together: Made Agency, or Raw.Studio if you’re a startup.
- You need a site that brings in enquiries you can trace back to their source: that’s the work we do, at Website Development Group.
Questions to ask before you sign
A good agency will answer these without hesitation. Vague answers are a signal.
- Who will actually build my site, and where are they? Plenty of Sydney agencies have a Sydney office and a build team somewhere else. That can work well. You just deserve to know.
- Who writes the words? If the answer is “you”, budget time for it. Copy is the most common reason projects stall.
- How will I know where my enquiries come from? Ask to see how form fills, calls and bookings are tracked on a site they’ve already built.
- What happens to my Google rankings when the new site launches? A redesign without redirects and a migration plan can wipe out years of search traffic. Our guide on redesigning without losing rankings explains what a proper plan includes.
- Who owns the site, the domain and the accounts? You should, on every count.
- What does it cost after launch? Hosting, maintenance, licences and changes all add up. Get them in writing before you sign.
- Does it meet accessibility standards? WCAG 2.2 AA is the benchmark. See what WCAG 2.2 AA asks of a small business site.
What a Sydney website costs
Prices vary as widely as the agencies. A few on this list publish theirs: WP Creative says custom projects start at $15,000, and EB Pearls says its projects should have budgets of $50,000 or more. Enterprise studios such as Thinkmill and Deepend sit above that. Smaller studios quote lower for simpler sites.
Compare what’s included, not just the total. Two quotes for the same price can mean one includes copywriting, tracking, SEO migration and training, and the other includes none of it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a Sydney-based web design agency?
Not necessarily. A local agency makes in-person workshops easier and will know Sydney’s suburbs and search competition, but plenty of excellent work is done remotely. What matters more is the agency’s experience in your industry and how it measures results.
How long does a website take to build in Sydney?
A typical small business site takes 6 to 12 weeks from kick-off to launch. Ecommerce stores and sites with integrations take longer. Waiting on content and approvals is the most common cause of delay, whichever agency you choose.
Is WordPress or Shopify better for a Sydney business?
Shopify suits businesses that mainly sell products online. WordPress suits content-heavy and service sites. Custom builds suit sites that need speed, security or integrations neither handles well. Our comparison of headless and WordPress covers the trade-offs.
How do I compare quotes from different agencies?
Line up the scope, not the price. Check what each includes for copywriting, SEO migration, tracking, accessibility, training, hosting and support after launch. A cheaper quote that leaves those out usually costs more in the end.
